Melanie Claxton

Principal lawyer, Melanie Claxton has over 20 years experience in the property and commercial fields.  Her experience extends across three states and includes managing state offices of a prominent mortgage processing firm, she has also been principal of her own firm in Western Australia prior to returning to her native Tasmania and joining a larger firm in Hobart where she headed up the property and commercial team.

Melanie has extensive experience with subdivisions, changes to title, creating easements and covenants as well as dealing with all forms of property titles including ‘old system’.  She is also deals with all types of leases, buying and selling businesses, and other commercial agreements.

Melanie’s conveyancing experience spans over the 20 years and she enjoys guiding people through their property journey whether it be buying or selling for the first time or assisting ‘seasoned’ buyers and sellers.

She has also previously acted in mortgage transactions and mortgage default proceedings for some of the largest banks and lenders in Australia and internationally and is excited to use that knowledge to assist small first time lenders and borrowers, more often nowadays the ‘Bank of Mum and Dad’!

Melanie is known for her down to earth and pragmatic approach and looks forward to assisting clients with their property and commercial matters.
